Euryops is a genus of flowering plants in the sunflower family, Asteraceae. The genus is native to southern and eastern Africa, and includes around 100 species of annuals, perennials, shrubs, and small trees.

Many species of Euryops are valued for their attractive yellow, daisy-like flowers, which are borne in profusion during the spring and summer months. They are popular garden plants in warm, sunny locations and can be used as border plants, in rock gardens, or as container plants.

Euryops are generally easy to grow and care for, preferring well-drained soil and full sun exposure. They are tolerant of drought and can thrive in hot, dry conditions. However, they may be susceptible to root rot if the soil is too moist.

  • Height: Euryops can range in height from around 30 cm (1 foot) for small shrubby species to over 2 meters (6.5 feet) for larger shrubs or small trees.
  • Width: The spread of Euryops can vary depending on the species and growing conditions, but many varieties will spread to around 1-2 meters (3-6.5 feet) in width.
  • Growth rate: Euryops can be relatively fast-growing and may put on several inches of growth per year under optimal conditions.
  • Watering: Euryops generally prefer well-drained soil and are drought-tolerant, but may require regular watering during dry spells.
  • Sun exposure: Euryops require full sun exposure to thrive and should be planted in a location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.
  • Pruning: Some species of Euryops may benefit from periodic pruning to maintain a compact shape and promote more vigorous flowering. Deadheading spent flowers can also encourage more blooms.
